Healthcare Policy Impact Master Class
Policy Brief Formulation Programme
Co-organised by Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Collaboratory (CPHC) and HKU Primary Health Care Academy
The Programme was designed to support HKU researchers to translate their research into actionable policy recommendations.
Programme Highlights:

Selected applicants to receive mentorship from Prof Sophia Chan to develop a policy brief based on their research projects.

Completed policy briefs to be considered by the Faculty for submission to relevant authorities, amplifying the real-world impact of their work.

Participants who successfully complete their policy brief will be recognised with the Healthcare Policy Impact Commendation.
Review Process
Staff and students were invited to submit a featured research project aimed at generating policy impact through their findings.

Application/Proposal Review:
Each proposal was carefully reviewed for relevance, evidence base, policy alignment, and feasibility. -
Individual Meeting:
Dedicated meetings were held with each applicant to discuss their project scope, objectives, and potential policy impact. -
Policy Alignment Tutorial:
Coaching was provided to each applicant on how to shape their evidence to align with the relevant policy angle and audience. -
Feedback on Strengths & Weaknesses:
Constructive, tailored feedback was provided to each applicant, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.

Selected projects
Following a structured review process involving application evaluation, individual meetings, tutorials, and iterative feedback, two applicants were ultimately shortlisted to proceed to the final stage of submitting their policy briefs to the Faculty of Medicine.
