Lancet Commission on Primary Healthcare

A Lancet Commission was established in 2024 under the umbrella of the CPHC, in collaboration with international experts to accelerate the “Transformation of Primary Health Care in the Post-COVID Era.”

The event brought together leading PHC researchers and experts from seven continents to chart a bold agenda for rebuilding equitable, people-centred and digitally enabled PHC systems worldwide through progress report,  panel discussion and brainstorming.

Master of Community Health Care

by Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care,

School of Clinical Medicine

This part-time programme addresses the growing need for community health care leaders equipped to tackle public health challenges. It offers interdisciplinary training, builds research skills, and provides practical clinical experience to improve health care delivery, specifically in community settings, targeting local, regional, and international students. The programme runs over two years and is open to health professionals in medicine, Chinese medicine, dentistry, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, and other health-related fields. Courses will blend online learning with in-person sessions to provide flexibility and interaction.

 

* The programme will be offered in full‑time mode commencing in September 2027.

Engaging the District Health Centres

HKUMed, in partnership with the District Health Centres (DHCs), is committed to engaging individuals and communities from all walks of life, acting as a key coordinator between medical and social sectors, and enhancing primary healthcare services at the district level.In collaboration with DHC operators, HKUMed has undertaken the following activities at various service sites:

Providing medical consultancy services at DHCs and supporting medico-social networking

HKUMed is appointed to provide medical consultancy service at Yau Tsim Mong and Kwai Tsing District Health Centres

  • Blood-taking training for nurses

     

  • Seasonal flu vaccine (Government Vaccination Programme) training for nurses

     

  • CPR training and Emergency Drill for all staff

Conducting teaching activities for HKUMed students, including Assistance Internship opportunities for MBBS students
